Mobile Shopping Will Dominate Singles Day


An article in eMarketer looks at Singles’ Day—the biggest shopping day in the world— which is rapidly approaching in China.

A key finding from a recent survey:

While over one-third of those surveyed said they will make a purchase on Singles’ Day via a desktop or laptop computer, shopping will take place overwhelmingly on mobile—alongside the 44% who say they’re going to use mobile apps to buy, 16% said they will conduct purchases on their mobile browser, while 8% plan to use WeChat.

Also interesting is that both men and women internet users in China said they plan to buy clothing more than any other product category. Among women, the second most named purchase category was shoes, hats and other accessories. For men, the second slot went to mobile phones and other digital products.
