•   Is StartApp compliant with the latest Google Ad Policy?

  Yes! We were the first to issue an updated SDK that is 100% compliant with all of Google's required guidelines. Months prior to the policy, StartApp worked with Security companies such as TRUSTe and Lookout to make sure we are setting the bar high for security in the industry. •   What is Startapp?

We feel that in order to keep the free-app world alive, a proper monetization for developers is a must!

•   So what is your monetization solution?

  We are utilizing the immense revenue potential that is "Web Search via mobile". By giving the end-user a few new access points to web search, we are sharing with you the revenue generated through these searches. Our solution guarantees you the highest revenue, while keeping your app free. This out-of-app monetization solution is far less aggressive than other options out there. From the user's point of view, an ad free app provides a much better user experience.

•   Is it free to join Startapp?

  Yes. Any app developer can sign up, pick up our SDK and start enjoying higher revenue at absolutely no cost. No matter where you're from, what sort of app you have or how many downloads it has, our solution fits all applications!

•   How does it actually work?

  We will supply you a SDK (including a step by step implementation guide). Integrating our product takes about 3 minutes! Once implemented, update your app on the market and add our disclaimer text to your app description. We are very focused on maintaining transparency, so it's highly important you let your users know about us. Your user will then get a search icon on his home screen, a bookmark link and a browser home page, all directing to our web search URL.

•   Is there somewhere I can see this "live"?

  Sure. We are working with hundreds of developers enjoying our great payouts, here is a link to one of their apps on the Android Market - Quick search widget.

•   Which mobile OS does Startapp support?

  Currently our solution is available for Android developers only. We will branch out to other OS in the future.

•   What permissions does the Startapp SDK add to my app?

  Our SDK requires several permissions to be added in order to implement the search icon and bookmarks. A list of the permissions and why we need each of them can be found here - Permissions Explained .

•   How much do you pay?

  Our payment in the icon ads SDK is based on number of app downloads; you get paid for each download generated with our SDK inside. There are 2 integration levels available: Full and Partial. The amount of payment depends on the integration level you choose. For full integration, we pay $0.055 for each new U.S install , $0.01 for each new install from any other country. For partial integration, we pay $0.04 for new U.S installs and $0.008 for new installs from any other country. A new user would be a user who's device does not have the StartApp SDK present. A returning user (with the StartApp SDK on his device) will grant you $0.01 each from the US and $0.005 for all other countries for both full and partial integration. In the In-App SDK the payment is revenue share generated by in-app ads.

•   How often do you pay and how can I get my money?

  We calculate the revenue generated on your account at the end of each calendar month (based on your PPD, no. of installs and country distribution). We will transfer you the money via PayPal or wire transfer on a net 30 basis.

•   I am using in-app ads in my application. Can I still work with Startapp?

  Of course you can. You can keep your current in-app ads and have StartApp at the same time. But since we offer significantly higher revenue, you can choose to offer your users a clean, ad free application, and enjoy greater revenue.

•   So what will my user get?

  Your user will get a search icon on their home screen that leads to our search website, a bookmark link which will be created on their browser's bookmark list and finally a browser search home page.

•   How will my user know about these additions?

  We will provide you with a short text to add to your app description, explaining everything to the user. In addition, each app working with us presents a EULA page on app launch, which tells the user what they will get in addition to your app.

•   Can the user delete your search links?

  Sure. The user can easily drag and drop the icon to the trash, or erase the bookmark links.

•   If the user deletes the icon/bookmark, what will happen to my app?

  Absolutely nothing! Since this is an out-of-app solution, your app will remain as it was on the users phone.

•   Is Startapp safe?

  100% safe. Our search partners are industry leaders and we hold the highest standards of privacy. We are certified by both Norton Verisign and TRUSTe.
